Napoleon called up another 300,000 men to join the army, in addition to the 280,000 already conscripted and the 85,000 veterans of the Battle of Leipzig. The Allies, mindful of previous years, did not want to give him the opportunity to launch a new military campaign the following year, and decided to invade France in the winter.
