Napoleon achieved the greatest of his victories: Austerlitz; with only 73,000 men and 139 cannons, he overwhelmed the Austro-Russian forces, which numbered 85,000 men and nearly 300 cannons. Austria was forced to accept peace, and the Russians were forced to retreat to their old borders.
