John Harrison, now eighty years old, after demonstrating to King George III the accuracy (0.3s per day) of the H-5 clock, received recognition from Parliament which, bypassing the authority of the Longitude Board, donated him 8,750 pounds (of the 10,000 that the Board still owed him).
