Rochester, England. Henry VIII finds himself facing his prospective wife, Anne of Cleves, whom until then he had only seen in a painting, let’s say optimistic about her appearance. When the King, filled with enthusiasm, sees her, so different from the portrait he had fallen in love with, he doesn’t hide his disappointment and declares, “I don’t like her!” and has her dismissed with a substantial pension, so he can then marry the more beautiful Catherine Howard.
