The Muslims overwhelm the Christians in the Battle of Varna and secure possession of Wallachia, Moldavia, Transylvania, and present-day Romania and Bulgaria. This is one of those moments in history where very little is needed to change everything. Without the treachery of a few Genoese merchants, the Union of Florence might have held, saving Constantinople from the Islamic-Turkish-Ottoman siege.
