Modena surrenders to the Emperor, who sends strong military contingents to recover the territories lost in 1326 and 1327. The soldiers of Louis the Bavarian (whom the peasants call “Gaburos”) are welcomed as liberators, but as soon as they arrive they commit raids and incursions to wreak havoc on Modena society.
