Korea. The Kingdom of Koryo is forced to become a vassal state of the Mongols. In 1232, the Mongols’ increasingly onerous demands lead to a Korean revolt, Mongol military intervention, and a civil war that will only be resolved with the definitive Mongol victory in 1259.
