The first evidence of stone toolmaking by Homo sapiens: fossilized remains of Paranthropus boisei found in Olduvai Gorge, alongside likely artifacts. This rudimentary technology would evolve over two and a half million years, launching artifacts throughout the Solar System and beyond, communicating continuously with them, launching some of these artifacts into the forbidding Venusian atmosphere, and building rockets as high as 110 meters to carry Homo sapiens to the Moon and bring them back safely to Earth. Not bad.
