King Victor Emmanuel II assumes for himself and his successors the title of King of Italy. We order that this document, bearing the seal of the State, be inserted into the collection of Government Acts, mandating all who may have it to observe it and ensure its observance as the law of the State.&#8221; But there is no\u2014according to Constitutional Law textbooks\u2014neither on that occasion, nor on any other preceding or subsequent one, any new constitution of a political state entity. The very title of Kingdom of Italy, assumed by Law No. 17 of March 17, 1861, 4671 (above) is simply the new name, more appropriate to the new situation, adopted by the Sardinian state.
